THE STORY

Why I do this work -
And how I got here.

I didn't come to this work through a straightforward path. My childhood was unsettled. The kind of early years that quietly teach a kid to stay alert, stay adaptable, and not expect things to stay stable for long. I was a smart kid - top of my class when things were steady - but underneath all of it, something was running in the background that I wouldn't have a name for until much later.

By fifteen or sixteen, I'd found the things that turned the volume down. Marijuana, cigarettes, alcohol. They worked, in the way that temporary relief always works - until it doesn't. That pattern stayed with me for years. Not dramatically. Just quietly there, doing its job of keeping a lid on something I hadn't yet understood.

The shift started around 26. I got curious about health - studied nutrition, then personal training. Something was changing, even if I couldn't fully name it yet. Around 2020 I moved into youth work, studied for it properly, and then landed in a role as a support worker at a homeless service. I worked my way up to team leader while studying psychology on the side.

Psychology was fine. But it didn't light me up. There was something missing - a depth I kept reaching for that the textbooks didn't quite get to. Then I found hypnotherapy. And everything clicked.

Not just intellectually - personally. Working with hypnosis, I finally understood why I was smoking after years of knowing better. Why the anxiety hadn't shifted despite everything I'd tried. It wasn't a willpower problem or a knowledge problem. It was a subconscious pattern - wired in from years of stress and uncertainty - that no amount of conscious effort could fully reach. Hypnotherapy reached it.

I finished my clinical hypnotherapy training and opened Flow Hypnosis straight away. Then kept going - counselling, breathwork. Each one adding another layer to the work.

 

What I've built here is the practice I wish had existed when I needed it most: warm, real, genuinely effective, and completely free of the clinical distance that keeps people from actually opening up.

I've sat in the chair you're sitting in. That's not a metaphor. I know what it's like to carry something you can't quite explain, to try the things that are supposed to help and still feel stuck, and to finally - finally - find something that works at a level that actually lasts. There's warmth in the room (or the Zoom). Humour too, when it fits. Healing doesn't require you to feel like a patient.

Most clients see real, lasting change across four sessions. The goal is always resolution - not an ongoing dependency on sessions.

Every session includes a personalised hypnosis recording sent to you after. The work continues long after the session ends.

Why hypnotherapy works
when other things don't.

Most approaches to anxiety work at the conscious level - helping you understand, reframe, and manage your responses. And that's useful. But it has a ceiling.

Anxiety doesn't live in your logical mind. It lives in your subconscious - in patterns formed long before you could reason your way around them. Hypnotherapy works because it speaks directly to that part of you.

In a relaxed, focused state, your subconscious becomes receptive to new information and new ways of responding. We use that window to gently shift the patterns keeping the anxiety loop alive - replacing them with something steadier, calmer, and more aligned with who you actually want to be.

Combined with breathwork to regulate your nervous system and counselling to create the right context, the approach is layered, effective, and built for lasting results - not just temporary relief.

Things people wonder
before reaching out.

Is hypnotherapy safe? Completely. Clinical hypnotherapy is a well-established, evidence-informed practice. You remain fully aware and in control throughout - you can't be made to do or say anything against your will. Think of it less like the stage hypnosis you've seen on TV, and more like a deeply focused, receptive state of relaxation.

What does hypnosis actually feel like? Most people describe it as a deeply relaxed, slightly dreamy state - a bit like that feeling just before you drift off to sleep, where your body is heavy and your mind is quiet but still aware. It's genuinely pleasant, and most people are surprised by how natural it feels.

What if I can't be hypnotised? Almost everyone can experience hypnosis - it's a natural state your brain moves through every day (driving on autopilot, losing yourself in a book). The people who struggle most are usually those who are trying too hard. The session is designed to guide you in gently, without any pressure to "perform."

How many sessions will I need? Most clients see real, lasting results across four sessions - which is why the 4-session pack is the most popular option. Some people feel significant shifts after just one or two. Others prefer to go deeper across eight. We'll always have an honest conversation about what makes sense for your situation.

Do you work with men? Absolutely - and I'd love to see more of them. Hypnotherapy has a reputation for being a "women's thing," which is a shame, because it works just as powerfully for men. If you're an entrepreneur, a high performer, or just someone who's quietly carrying more than they let on - this work is absolutely for you.

Can I do sessions online? Yes - online sessions via Zoom are just as effective as in-person. Many clients actually prefer working from their own space, in their own environment. All you need is a quiet room, a comfortable chair, and a decent internet connection.

What's the difference between a 1:1 session and the online course? The 1:1 sessions are fully personalised - every conversation, every hypnosis recording is tailored to you specifically. The Awaken Flow course is a structured, self-paced program that covers anxiety relief systematically over six weeks. Many people start with the course and then move into 1:1 work when they're ready to go deeper.
